I have been saying for at least two years now that Maddie Schizas needs to change coaches but it would be lunacy to do that this close to the Olympics so I know it's not going to happen. She's stagnated pretty significantly and a new coach would probably help her. Skate Canada was great for her though.

If Skate Canada has any sense though they won't name the World team until after the Four Continents so she can skate against other Canadian women more than once and they'll have a better idea of how things stack up between at least a couple of them. She's dropped at Worlds the last two years so I don't think Skate Canada has anything more to lose or gain by sending someone else to try and get that 10th place for a second spot.

I think she has to skate lights out and just DOMINATE at CanNats to be named to the Worlds team before 4CC. Not sure she can do that. But even if she does destroy everyone else, I suspect they may hold off because it's seems unlikely they will name the Men before 4CC. For consistency's sake, maybe they hold all of the World team?

Curious-- what would be the dream coaching situation for her, in your opinion?

Ravi Walia. He did great work with Kaetlyn Osmond and I think he would do well with Maddie.

I know Edmonton is very far away from Ontario but if she's connected to the FIlipino-Canadian community in Ontario there's definitely that in Edmonton as well and Edmonton is one of the more tolerable places in Edmonton to live (I don't live there, but I am Albertan).

You did pretty good for a 'Murican who doesn't know much about Cdn skating. 😁

I would FLOVE to see Paradis on the podium. He's a national treasure. Or should be.

I'm also watching Fiona Bombarder with fingers crossed. Girl has potential.

And yeah, bring Keegs back until these other guys decide they're not scared of the podium. I think Gogolev will never make it - he's plagued by injuries and has grown too tall.

I agree the score gap between the top two dance teams should be much closer.

Haha, thanks. I tried!

I suspect Anthony is going to steamroll the other Canadian men in the next quad, assuming he stays healthy enough to skate. His ice dramatics are off the chart. Everyone else just pales in comparison. He just needs the triple axel and maybe one stable quad? (Oh, is that all?)

I think he'll get them. Likely he'll try the 3A in the LP. And I'd be surprised if he wasn't already working on quads. I heard s'thing years ago (from Tracy Wilson I think) about quads (or jumps generally - to do with the hips?) are more difficult for some reason for v flexible men. Prime example Jason Brown.

Oh, that's so interesting! Makes sense, given the pattern we see with the arty ones.

I have instantly fallen for Paradis, will protect him at all costs, and will use that costume top of his as the world’s fiercest doily.

I also love that he takes make-up as seriously as an ice dancer.

I’m watching Fiona Bombardier because she’s Josee Chouinard’s daughter. But yes, bring back Keegan and his backflip one more time. His daughter’s baby pictures are past the ultrasound stage by now.

I forgot about the mother/daughter connection! Thank you!
