Yuma has been spooked ever since he saw Ilia win his first world title with the quad axel. I hope he can get his nerves under control next season. (And I’m surprised that Ilia hasn’t done a triple-quad combo yet. I bet Shaidorov has a quad axel.)
I’m not a fan of Lopareva/Brissaud, but I think they’re getting screwed by their federation. I won’t be a fan of Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron either.
Jason should absolutely skate in the Olympic team event.
Shaidy is my Olympic dark horse. He's quietly doing what Ilia does and he might even been doing it more consistently? I haven't checked the stats on that, but he seems more reliable. Now that he's winning medaling at big events, I wouldn't be surprised to see his scores climb in the fall. If Ilia falters, he'll be right there.
Isabeau has gotten so much credit (deservedly, I think) for being balletic and delicate and exquisite, but she always looks anxious to me, afraid of making mistakes (and the bending from the waist on jump takeoffs has gotten worse). Mone is also delicate and exquisite, but with much stronger skating skills, and she doesn’t seem fazed by mistakes. (Of course I’m sure she is bothered, but she can hide it and keep going better than Isabeau.)
A TRAVESTY, if for no other reason than her saucy ‘oh those Russians’ at the end of their RD. I hope their exemplary vibes are not crushed by these obvious shady shenanigans and they at least make GuiLo (is that a thing?) work for it!!!

Watching the World Team Trophy made me realize that Mone Chiba is what Isabeau is supposed to be.
Oh, interesting. Can you say more that? Mone is a skater that doesn't really ever grab my attention, so I feel like I missing something here.

Shibutanis!
I have so many thoughts-- deserves its own newsletter.
The rage I feel at Lopareva/Brissaud being dropped after they had such a fantastic season cannot be overstated.
And before Guilo has completed once! If nothing else convinces someone of back room ice dance shenanigans, this should.

Haha, I'm not sure GuiLo is a thing for anyone other than me.
Where is the photo of the Taylor Swift tote??? Swiftie Skatoholics demand justice!
